January 2014 | Four new program resources from Alive & Thrive

Advocacy, face-to-face communication, and social mobilization are strategies used by Alive & Thrive to scale up nutrition. Four new resources illustrate how these strategies are applied in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Viet Nam.

A how to guide outlines the steps for engaging journalists to meet child nutrition advocacy goals using Bangladesh as a case study.

Interpersonal communication

A toolkit catalogues and provides electronic links to resources such as counseling cards, training materials, and protocols developed in Viet Nam to improve the quality of counseling on infant and young child feeding in health facilities.

Social mobilization

Notes from the field describe experiences in mobilizing the community to support good feeding practices in Bangladesh. A video shows how religious leaders, grandmothers, and fathers in Ethiopia can be agents of change in their communities.

Coming soon

An advocacy toolkit, an e-magazine on scaling up through mass media, and a technical brief on breastfeeding after cesarean delivery.
